Darkness was a narrated, post-apocalyptic tale we released in 2011 as a soft lead-in to a multi-episode series we never got around to actually making. The film would have established several ideas and concepts to be picked up in Sunrise, most notably the stories about fathers and sons, and the man in the sun.
Similarly, the score for Darkness contains motifs I intended for use in Sunrise. The single score track, "Darkness", begins and ends with an original motif, and transitions into the Father's Theme as the narrator speaks about his father's departure, then the Sunrise Theme for the story of the Star Child. The latter would have been the series' main theme, while the Father's Theme reappears as a major motif in Petriarch (2012).
The remaining two tracks are demos created during production, included here as bonus cues.
