How to Lose Friends & Assassinate People is the second short co-starring Bill Sheikh of Metal Snare Production, following Intervention earlier in 2012. The film is something of a spiritual successor to Intervention, as both involve myself and Bill's character at odds despite a bond of friendship. In addition, the score builds upon my previous work on films featuring assassins: 2010's Captive and the Metal Snare short A Deadly Interview in 2011. The use of harpsichord is borrowed from the latter, while the central theme of Captive was initially going to make an appearance in How to Lose Friends (as heard in the Alternate Theme Demo from track six). The film's original motif is played on twanging guitar in the opening track, and is later picked up by the backing strings. "The Now (Trigger)" uses a rising/falling melody derived from an unused cue for All Angels (2011).
