Notes So Far V: Foreward is the fifth installment in the "Notes So Far" series of original albums, and contains an on-going selection of instrumental tracks, beginning from February 2013.
The album contains several cover tracks: The two piano medleys feature an arrangement of various film and television themes including material from Children of Dune, Sherlock, Braveheart, Hook, Pirates of the Caribbean and Doctor Who. "Funeral Pyre for a Jedi Knight" features sombre versions of "The Force Theme" and "Qui-Gon's Theme" from John Williams' Star Wars scores, and was inspired by the incidental music for the Season Four finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, composed by Kevin Kiner. "London Calling" is an arrangement of a track from Star Trek Into Darkness by Michael Giacchino, featuring versions of his main theme. Finally, "Calling Up at the Stars" and "The Glory of Gallifrey" are two versions of "This Is Gallifrey" by Murray Gold, from Doctor Who.
"Fay (for Valentine's)" is a love theme initially intended for a feature film project, and was released on Valentine's Day, 2013. "Cosmos II" is, as the title suggests, a follow-on to "Cosmos" from Notes So Far IV: Thereafter. "Heather's Theme" is a variation of a theme originally composed for the cancelled series, Sunrise.
