Self-Control is a 2013 thriller from Metal Snare Production, and my fifth musical collaboration with Bill Sheikh. I star as James, alongside Nathan Nuurah as a sinister aspect of my inner psyche. The film also features Donna Newman as Sarah, the supposed victim of James's angry outbursts.
I began working on the score during principal photography, exploring a theme and composing several ambient tracks including "Case #22" and "Post-Mortem". The score also includes a theme for Sarah, introduced on keys in track two and given a full rendition in track five (underscoring the flashback to the incident and James's confession. The theme also appears in track eleven and informs the end credits music, which combines versions of both motifs. The album contains several cues not used in the finished edit, as well as two alternate tracks for the finale.
